And here's the next chapter :) Be sure to read the notes at the end for some behind the scene important stuff :)

World of the Living Dead, year eight

Note to self: Never again say that I might update more often, unless I want RL to bit me in the ass. Still, more often than last time RL bit me in the ass :D
So, here we go with the next chapter of the Romero family life :)

World of the Dead, year seven

Updates will be a little bit more frequent now as I did play *a lot* ahead, so I think I have the next three or four chapters worth in pictures already :) Also, Gen 5 has been born in my game, and here we are, still with my beloved Gen 3 so... yeah, more frequent updates:

World of the living dead, year six

Ok, it seems that in my free week I played way, way ahead (Let's just say that Gen 4 is in their adulthood as I type this) so here's the next chapter. Hopefully, if work doesn't bog me this week, Chapter seven will be up next week.

World of the Living Dead, Year Five

Before we start, a new apology: RL has been hetic and then I stupidly broke a rule so I had to start all over since my last backup so I had to replay Gen 3 birth AND life up to teenagerhood twice. Fun times for everyone!
Anyway, the problem was solved, so here it is, the correct and rules-aviding new chapter of the Romeros' saga.

World of the Living Dead, Year Four

I'm going to apologize before hand for the shortness of this chapter, because I did something very stupid.
I had to change computers (Long, long story), and upon reinstalling the Sims and starting playing with the Romeros... I totally forgot that the default setting of the screencaps was low res and small size. So... we lost a lot. I'll do my best to fill you in in next chapter of what we missed -this chapter was the last I played in the old computer.
I also apologize for the quality of some shots, as I recently changed to Photoshop C4 and I'm still not used to the program.

World of the Living Dead, Year Three

Sorry for the delay, but there was another computer misshap. Thankfully, I learned from the last ones so the Romeros' were properly backuped and nothing was lost. Not only that, but I could add Mansion and Garden to the roost, so as soon as I'm allowed to have flowers, we'll get a pretty garden ;)
Also, I admit I did install Sims 3 and fiddled around with it a bit. It's not really that bad, and it has some features that I would love in the Sims 2 (Seamless neighbour, bikes, the color tool for hair) but in general I think I like Sims 2 best, mostly for all the added fun of the expansions. I didn't much care for the Rabbit Holes but heck, it's the same as watching the empty house when your sims are at work in sims 2 so the only difference was the scenery change. Depending on the Sims 3 first EP, I might change my mind, but so far, Sims 2 is my game of choice.

Besides, I have to finish this Apocalypse and I do want to try again with a Prosperity/Apocalypse and that's pretty much impossible with Sims 3.

Miles to Go 1.0. A sims' legacy

So I had mentioned I was working on a legacy. While it is mostly to keep me sane and from cheating with the Romeros (Not that I did the first time around, but now that I've played a lot more and am a lot more confident with boolprop, the temptation is there), I ended up deciding to post it to. Because writing is fun :) Also, I love my little founder. It will not be updated as often as the Romeros, but that's mostly because the Romeros have a lot more playtime than this family... and I also play the new Derelicts, so that's a lot of sims in a little time. It will also be written in first person, because that's a voice I've grown used to (I'm debating over leaving the Derelicts in third person or writing it in first, to be honest)
Finally, it has a naming theme too, as all family members will be named after Stephen King's characters, more or less in book order. At the end of each chapter, I'll give you the skinny on the names.
And now, I give you:

World of the Living Dead, Year Two

Wee, chapter two :)

This is a lot longer than the original chapter two, again, due to my new found experience, and to the fact that now I'm trying to enjoy my sim's kid childhoods as much as I can, despite the fact that they can't shower. (Also, because I'm playing other two challenges in order not to go insane with the restrictions. I want a Sim who can bathe? I go to the soon to be posted legacy. I want a Sim who needs to fish? I go to the Derelicts. I want to suffer? The Romeros' it is :) ) Also, I want to keep each post around 25 pics or so, as to not make them hard to read.

World of the Living Dead, Year One.

Yeah, chapter one already :)

And I have to say, playing this showed me how much the first Ash taught me. Last time, I spend so much time worrying about skills, and food, and keeping her meditating that I tended to disregard social and fun. This time... well, I have to say, Ash came out of her two weeks or so of loneliness rather good. At least, I avoided the Social Bunny. Also, I was lucky. Not only Ash transitioned to almost her same outfit as last time... her gym outfit is amazingly appropriate... you will see.

And without further ado...

World of the Living Dead, a Prologue

Ok, so I had a few computer mishaps. Make that a LOT of computer mishaps. And I ended up losing not only the Romeros, but also Sandford AND the Derelicts AND the backups. It was depressing. Fortunately, what I didn't loss was... the original files for Ash and Derek in Bodyshop. So since I'm not really a quitter, and the material was there, here we go again. I'll be playing a new Apocalypse challenge, with Ash as my founder, and I'll try to replicate a little of the original without repeating it step by step because then, it would be boring to you all. (for instance, this time we won't be seeing zombies as the only thing they do is... walk in front of the house). I apologize for the quality of some pictures, but I didn't realize I had the settings on low until Ash was well in her Sophomore year, and to be honest, I wasn't up to redoing it all again.

So without further ado...

Sandford. A Pseudo-prosperity Apocalypse. Year 4

The funny thing now, is how the kids grow. Eire and Welsh have no other kids their own age in the other families, but Lucy has more chances... the way the generations will keep on growing will be interesting to watch (On the other hand, I need to lift medical 1. Having no birthcontrol is quite dangerous at least in one of the houses)

Sandford. A Pseudo-prosperity Apocalypse. Year 3

And the story continues. The first thing I've noticed, is that prosperity-style some things are a lot slower. Mostly, because unless we get very lucky with the chance cards, lifting a career in 7 days is quite impossible, not to mention that there's no 'jump' in generations. On the other hand, it gives some interesting challenges for storytelling...

Sandford. A Pseudo-prosperity Apocalypse. Year 2

And here we are again with the Sandford Village, ready to tackle all the problems of a post-zombie world. And I'll just say, Adult starts are *hard* even with the restriction-less, aging-less week I gave them. In case you're curious my (playtesting) rules are here so you can see what I'm dealing with. That said, let's go on with the story:

Nov. 7th, 2008

Prosperity/Apocalypse Playtesting Rules.

So, for anyone who wants to know what rules I'm following in Sandford, here they are.
Of course, they are for four adult starts and not for formal "prosperity families" but that's why it's playtesting. If Sandford doesn't implode, I'll try with a proper prosperity beginning to see if it's possible.
They're totally based out of Pinstar's original Apocalypse Challenge, and I took a lot of the text from djxavier's great quick reference guide at boolprop as I was using it to recheck the rules in the Romero's household.

And the rules are... )

Nov. 4th, 2008

Sandford. A Pseudo-prosperity Apocalypse. Year 1

Ok. So my trusty PC died (Apparently, the power unit burnt itself or something) and with it, the Romeros and the Derelicts are lost. Well, sorta. We're still trying to rescue my hard drive, but the truth is, it's looking like it will take a bit longer -or until I get a new power unit. In the meantime, I was gifted a brand new laptop, and of course, I had to install the sims. And due to the fact that I missed a bit of 'community' feeling with the Romeros -as they were the only real family in their town- and after a suggestion made by Felicia1066 at boolprop, I sort of thought of a possible way to join the Apocalypse Challenge with the Prosperity challenge. This is the result of my first playtest playing (I'll post the modified rules as soon as I can, I swear, but most is the same). People who have read World War Z will undoubtedly recognize his strong influence, as I read his book two weeks ago, and it inspired me even more to try for the 'rebuild a community' feeling. And so, without further ado:

A poverty story. The Derelicts. 2.1

And the Derelict Saga also continues. Poor Derek has a lot to learn, it seems. (Also, I apologize for Derek's changing tattoos. I had some issues with the layover for a while, but they get solved next chapter)

World of the Dead, a Sims Apocalypse. Chapter IX
